What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a FDA-approved injectable that is used to correct shallowness in the midface, contour dificiencies, and deep nasolabial folds to achieve for a more youthful appearance. Made up of poly-L-lactic acid, it is gradually and naturally absorbed into the body and helps to rebuild lost collagen over time.
How are Sculptra Injections Performed?
While many patients find Sculptra injections tolerable, a topical anesthetic can be applied to the treatment areas to ensure a comfortable treatment. Then, Sculptra will be injected into the deep dermis using a small needle. Most patients require three injection appointments spaced over the course of a few months to see optimal results.
Following treatment, patients may experience temporary bumps under the skin, swelling, redness or bruising at the injection sites. There is no downtime required following treatment, so you can feel free to return to your everyday routine as soon as you feel comfortable. Results from Sculptra can last more than two years.
