What is Dysport?
Dysport is a brand of a neuromodulator, intended for the treatment of frown lines between the eyebrows. Dysport provides a natural looking softening of these moderate to severe lines for a more relaxed and refreshed look. Dysport is made of botulism toxin type A, which is an FDA approved injectable for cosmetic use. When Dysport is injected into the glabellar muscle, the signals that cause a frowning motion are blocked and therefore the lines soften.
How are Dysport Injections Performed?
To begin treatment, the injector will ask you to frown in order to see exactly where the injections should be placed. The injector will decide how many units to inject based on your aesthetic goals, which may vary from person to person. There are five main points of injection, however, depending on the depth of your lines and wrinkles will depend on how many units are placed at each point. These injections allow for the rest of your face to freely express emotion.
Dysport injection does not require any downtime from the patient. The injections are rather painless and typically only cause minor redness and swelling at the injection sites. Any swelling or redness will subside within a few hours following treatment. On average results can last approximately four months.
